FISHERWOMEN : 
The bright colorful saris and their tough demeanor of the fisherwomen (macchiwallis) inspired this painting. During my college days in Mumbai, I would travel in commuter trains ( VT local) where they would board the trains carrying fresh or empty baskets of fresh fish.

Drawn from a photograph taken by my father, this was taken during a pilgrimage. My grandmother on left wearing the traditional Nine-yard saree with my mother (wearing standard six yard saree). Mother is holding my kid brother and I am standing in front of her, hidden from the camera.
